Bernard “Jim” James Powers, 76, of Honokaa died Nov. 16 at Life Care Center of Kona. Born in Toledo, Ohio, he was a retired carpenter with the former Hamakua Sugar Company, member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa and Hamakua Country Golf Club, was a coach for the “Rookies” girls baseball team in Honokaa and an umpire for the Hongwanji Softball League.
